History of West Guitar Center

West Guitar Center website was developed out of a true need for a music store physical front and virtual website for buying and selling vintage guitars, amplifiers and all kinds of vintage electronic equipment you may not see everyday.

Owners Dan & Mary West are not new to business adventures in the Macon, Missouri area. Dan’s father Leonard West owned and operated West Tool & Die for over 40 years in the county and Dan
took over the family business in 1983, running it as West Machine & Tool for another 20 years.

The West Mercantile came along in the historic downtown of Macon in 2008. Providing a real treat to those who love vintage books, antiques, curiosities and oddities.

The Another Time Store (A Mid-century Modern Store) 2 doors down from the Mercantile was opened and
originally catered to the mid-century buyers, with 1960’s – 70’s items which is still a presence in the store.

In 2019 the store as is now a mecca for musicians, musical instrument collectors, vintage electronic collectors and more. We particularily cater to the vintage guitar & instrument collector, having many original early Gibson, Martin, Gretsch, Fender and other makes of guitars. We do not necessarily carry new items but will occasionally have something come through the door on a trade. We also have guitar strings, mandolin, violin and other instrument strings.
